Zendaya and Robert Pattinson star in The Drama, a romantic-comedy thriller releasing in theaters on April 3.
Zendaya plays Emma Harwood, a bookstore clerk from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Robert Pattinson plays Charlie Thompson, an English museum director. The couples is engaged to be married, but some drama ensues in the movie.
The plotline follows a 30-something couple who are engaged to be married in a few days, when the groom to be, Charlie, played by Pattinson, discovers some unsettling news from Harwood, played by Zendaya. Will the wedding go through, and what did Emma Harwood do that shook her fiancé, Charlie Thompson?
That we don’t know, but we do know that the movie filmed in and around Boston in early 2024. You’ll easily notice some of your favorite local spots in the film.
Since the movie is both set and filmed in Boston, the team didn’t work to disguise any of the Boston landscape, but rather used it to tell the story. In the film, the couple lives in a upscale apartment in the Back Bay, in addition to several other spots around the city.
Downtown Boston
Zendaya is no stranger to Tatte. The Tatte just steps from South Station made a cut in the film. The couple also filmed around Arch Street, with towering Financial District buildings in the background. America’s oldest continuously operating hotel Omni Parker House also made a film cameo.
Beacon Street
Filming took place on Beacon Street in Back Bay. The couple also lives in a lush Back Bay brownstone in the film, although it is unclear whether or not the home scenes were filmed in Back Bay.
Andover
Phillips Academy in Andover, a popular site for Hollywood, was depicted as the gallery which Pattinson works at. The school’s Addison Gallery of American Art becomes a Cambridge art gallery in the movie.
Ipswich
The North Shore town is no stranger to the silver screen, with Little Women (2019) filmed at the Crane Estate. For The Drama, the team chose to film scenes at The Mansion on Turner Hill, built in 1903.
