Joe’s Pizza NYC opened its first Massachusetts storefront in Cambridge. The famous pizza shop opened in the former Milk Bar space on Brattle Street in Harvard Square! It will be the first New England location for Joe’s Pizza which is ranked as one of the top pizza spots in New York City and known for its iconic slices and dedicated lines.
The famous pizza shop, with a flagship located in NYC’s Greenwich Village, has been featured in Spider-Man 2 in which Peter Parker was a Joe’s Pizza delivery guy, and also in a commercial for Doctor Stange and the Grand Theft Auto 3 video game.
If you’ve ever been to NYC and tried to go to Joe’s Pizza, you know that the line can pretty much resemble the North End’s Mike’s Pastry on a good day. We’re hoping the Harvard Square one will be a little bit more accessible! Joe’s Pizza, which refers to itself as “The Greenwich Village Institution” has served hungry customers since 1975.
Throughout the years Joe’s Pizza in Greenwich Village has become just as popular with visitors and tourists as it is with native New Yorkers who know where to come for an authentic New York street slice. Established in 1975 by Joe Pozzuoli, who is originally from Naples, Italy, the birthplace of pizza, Joe’s Pizza is a “Greenwich Village institution” offering the classic New York slice for over 47 years. At 75 years of age, Joe Pozzuoli still owns and operates the restaurant.
Joe’s offers the perfect intersection of Italian cooking and classic NYC pizza, and we can’t wait to get a taste of Joe’s in Cambridge!
Currently, Joe’s Pizza counts 4 Manhattan locations, 1 shop in Brooklyn, 1 location in Michigan and 1 in Florida, and 3 locations in Shanghai, China. We’re excited to be the first spot for Joe’s in all of New England!
