Don’t let winter stop you from dining out!

We’ve all trudged through the snow to get to work or class in the harsh New England winter — we’re seasoned winter adventurers. So don’t let a little snow or wind stop you from enjoying a fun (and safe) night out. Fire pits, igloos, cute greenhouses and snow much more await you at these charming Boston spots which are all decked out for the winter and will help you stay cozy all season long!

Of course, all restaurants have COVID-19 safety measures in place including socially distanced tables, thorough cleaning procedures, and mask requirements upon entry.

1. Lookout Rooftop, Seaport

The popular rooftop is kicking things up a notch for the cozy season by bringing back its exclusive Igloo experience. While at Lookout’s igloos, you’ll be able to enjoy the stunning views of the Boston skyline while sipping on specialty cocktails and munching down on small plates. (Note: Lookout’s Igloos are available by reservation only.)

When: Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for lunch. The igloos are also open from 4 p.m. until close, Wednesday through Sunday.

2.Bow Market, Somerville

Located in Union Square, this awesome open-air market is perfect for any foodie out there. To keep things flowing safely, Bow Market has installed cozy fire pits in its central courtyard where you’ll be able to chill out while enjoying some yummy bites and drinks from the food stalls around you. The market recommends booking your spot and purchasing your food ahead of time to make the most out of your time at the Courtyard. Oh, and don’t forget to check out Maccabee Bar, the Hanukkah-themed pop-up coming to Bow Market’s Variety Bar next month!

When: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

3. Woods Hill at Pier 4, Seaport


Woods Hill at Pier 4 has set out nine beautiful igloos along the waterfront so you can still enjoy all the perks of outdoor dining in a safe and private environment without having to deal with the pesky freezing temperatures and snow. Each igloo can sit from 2 to 6 guests (from the same party) and provides the perfect environment for a unique private dining experience featuring Woods Hill’s upscale cuisine.

When: Tuesdays through Saturdays from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sundays. Brunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.

4. Boston Harbor Hotel, Financial District

Starting next month the Boston Harbor Hotel will be reopening for its popular Winter on the Wharf Season. This year, the outdoor experience will feature six brand new igloos, cozy fire pits and an awesome new menu featuring seasonally inspired bites and cocktails.

5. Talulla, Cambridge

Tallula has installed some incredibly charming greenhouses which are perfect for dining out while surrounded by giant mounds of snow. They come with their own heating and lighting system so you can enjoy your meal come rain, shine or snow!  There are 5 greenhouses available at the restaurant each seating two people maximum for a totally charming and intimate dining experience.

When: Wednesdays through Sundays from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.

6. Mile Marker One, Gloucester

Located inside Cape Ann’s Marina Resort in Gloucester, MA, Mile Marker One has set up a brand new igloo dining experience just in time for the holiday season. The restaurant has set up four whimsical igloos, each with its own full-sized and brightly-colored door.

When: 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

7. Six West Broadway, South Boston

This winter, perched atop the Cambria Hotel in South Boston you’ll find some adorable greenhouses. Set up by Six West Broadway, the Cambria’s stylish rooftop bar, these crystal cabanas offer the most amazing view of the Boston skyline and are great for dining out in the cold Boston weather.

When: Monday to Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.

8. 75 Liberty Wharf, Seaport District

75 Liberty Wharf in Seaport has set up an enchanting village of igloos that are perfect for staying cozy and safe while dining by the water this winter. The restaurant has set up eight charming igloos that can sit up to six guests for a 90-minute period. Each igloo is fully heated and sanitized for lunch and dinner every day of the week.

When: Monday to Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.
