A new study indexed over 100 cities worldwide, and determined which ones are the “most walkable.” Boston turned out to be among the top 10 most walkable according to the final list of 30 cities.
The study comes from Insider Monkey who extracted data from Tourlane and WalkScore. Insider Money, a website that offers guidance on insider trading and hedge fund analysis, also juxtaposed the impact of walkability on GDP, investment opportunity and health, finding that the most walkable cities accounted for less than 1.2% of landmass yet about 20% of GDP. Plus, those in walkable cities take nearly double the steps of their counterparts, reducing risk of various diseases according to The National Institute of Health.
