The bad news: Boston’s chaotic wintery weather is here to stay for the season. The good news: cold weather calls for a deliciously hot cocktail to warm your hands and heart! Many local restaurants are serving up festive hot cocktails right now—here’s 6 of our favorite warm drinks being served the city right now.
1. Miracle
Miracle is a pop-up cocktail bar with three locations in Boston, all of which have delightfully kitschy holiday decor and lovely festive cocktails. Our drink of choice for those cold winter days is the Bad Santa: served hot and made with Aged Jamaican rum, Velvet Falernum, mixed spiced butter, and oat milk.
Visit a Miracle pop-up bar at Central Tavern (31 Central St., Milford), Kimpton Marlowe Hotel Lobby Bar (25 Edwin H. Land Blvd., East Cambridge), or Mystic Station (139 Pleasant St., Malden).
2. The Bowery Bar
This Dorchester tavern is a full-fledged winter wonderland this time of year. With three heated yurts for outdoor dining and a menu full of comfort foods, The Bowery also offers delicious warm cocktails to complement the cozy vibes. Try the Blizzard of ’78 for a twist on your classic hot chocolate – with Skrewball peanut butter whiskey and toasted marshmallows on top, it’s absolutely irresistible.
Find The Bowery at 2261 Dorchester Ave., Lower Mills, Dorchester, MA.
3. Snowport
In addition to a holiday market, tree market, and wintertime games, Snowport is also home to a bevy of food and drink options this year from Tuscan Kitchen. Mulled wine is always an exquisite option for colder days, but if you’re looking for a hot pick-me-up, we recommend the Expresso Train to the North Pole. This drink features Bully Boy vodka, a double shot of espresso, vanilla gelato, and ginger bread — it’s sure to deliver some perky holiday spirit!
Find Seaport at 88 Seaport Blvd., Boston
4. Alcove
Alcove’s winter menu feature two cocktails served warm: the Wassail, a cider-based drink with Ferrand 1840 cognac along with oranges and cloves, and La Marseillaise, a hot cocoa spiced up with Ricard Pastis de Marseille and a homemade cocoa blend. Both will warm you from your head to your toes!
Find Alcove at 50 Lovejoy Wharf, Boston, MA
5. The Lodge at Publico
The Lodge at Publico is set to return mid-December in all its apres-ski glory. The pop-up lounge promises to offer warms cocktails as it has in years past, including two variations on boozy hot chocolate—Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate or Peppermint Patty!
Find The Lodge at Publico at 11 Dorchester St., Boston.
6. Mile Marker One
Located inside Cape Ann’s Marina Resort in Gloucester, MA, Mile Marker One has a lovely igloo dining experience just in time for the holiday season. The restaurant has set up four whimsical igloos, each with its own full-sized and brightly-colored door. As for the hot cocktails?
