There’s a slice shop in Seaport, a salad spot, burgers, cafes and more.
The one thing missing is a fast-casual sushi spot that you can grab for lunch, post-workout, or to enjoy along the waterfront anytime the craving strikes.
Thankfully somebody (Phil Turley) picked up on that gap in the market and will bring Boston’s first fast-casual sushi spot to Seaport in just a few weeks!
About Happy Rice
Happy Rice is a soon-to-open fast-casual sushi spot bringing health-oriented, chef-driven sushi and bento boxes to Seaport. It’s quality sushi that’s not “sketchy” like a grocery store or requires a 2-hour long reservation like a typical dine-in option.
The idea stemmed from Happy Rice co-founder Phil Turley’s own craving for a fresh, reliable sushi spot in Boston.
“Opening our first Happy Rice in Boston’s Seaport is incredibly meaningful to me personally. I first got involved with WS Development over 8 years ago when they were just beginning to build the Seaport, and even back then it was clear the team was creating something really special,” says Co-Founder and CEO, Phil Turley.
While the first shop will be in Seaport, Turley notes he hopes to bring more locations to different Boston neighborhoods.
“Watching the neighborhood grow into such a vibrant, creative community has been amazing, so being able to open Happy Rice here feels like coming full circle. The Seaport is a place that embraces new ideas and forward-thinking concepts, making it the perfect home for reimagining what everyday sushi can be. We’re excited to become part of the daily rhythm of the neighborhood, and this is just the beginning of what we hope will grow into many Happy Rice locations across Boston.”
What’s on the menu?
Rooted in the idea of “Real Goodness,” Happy Rice serves chef-driven rolls and boxes made with high-quality ingredients, thoughtfully-sourced seafood, and clean kitchen practices, without ever compromising on taste.
Menu highlights include “Benefit Boxes,” a twist on bento boxes, with the Power Up Box, tuna-focused selections for protein and fish lovers, and the Happy Gut Box, veggie-forward rolls with fermented goodness for your gut.
Happy Rice will work with local suppliers as much as possible to source the best fish and produce for its maki, nigiri, sashimi and more!
Happy Rice will be located at 53 Boston Wharf Road in Boston Seaport.
