This summer, Boston Lyric Opera’s popular mobile performance venue, Street Stage, returns for free live performances to locations throughout Boston.
The concept, first conceived during the pandemic as a way to safely enjoy opera, persisted due to popular reception. Street Stage, the Boston Lyric Opera’s mobile stage, is a 26-foot-long mobile semi-trailer. When at its full breadth, it offers 270-degree views of opera performers.
There’s no more exhilarating experience than hearing beautiful music on a gorgeous warm summer day,” says BLO Artistic Director Nina Yoshida Nelsen. “The artists performing this summer season are some of the most accomplished performers in Greater Boston. Different programs and activities are planned at each site, so multiple visits are encouraged!
HarborOne Bank and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture are the Street Stage sponsors who’ve helped make this event free for Bostonians.

Currently there are three more shows left for the season, although more events could possibly be on the horizon, and will be listed on the events calendar. The season opener took place on June 1 on the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

What: An opera highlighting Spanish-language arias and cultural heritage.

Street Stage Debut at Charleston Navy Yard
What: A stunning opera performance set on the backdrop of the Boston Harbor featuring music inspired by the sea.
