Fall foliage is soon to be ablaze in Massachusetts and you may have already noticed the peaks of golden, red and auburn leaves decorating city trees. If you’re a fan of fall foliage like us, you may also be wondering when is the best time for admiring the changing leaves in all their scarlet glory or simply cannonballing into a big ole pile of crackling leaves, then we may have just found the solution. And it’s this interactive map of Massachusetts fall foliage.
The map draws on sources like the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to predict when trees across New England will reach their fiercest colors and help leaf peepers plan their weekend excursions. Most of New England will be at or near its peak beginning in October and trickling down south as the weeks pass. Nonetheless, the map comes in handy for Bostonians who are looking to see the beautiful leaves in and around Boston.

In the coming weeks, the trees will transition into their most vivid, beautiful autumnal colors. That’s because they’re expected to strike ‘peak phase’ according to the interactive map. Trees in and around Boston are expected to burst into beautiful shades of auburn, crimson and gold by late October in Boston.
Last year, Boston’s foliage peaked closer to November 10.
Due to the hot and rainy summer, similar to last year, the leaves are much healthier, and the coloration will be prolonged.

So, if you’re planning on going on a fall adventure into the wild make sure to leverage the handy dandy map above for the ultimate foliage experience. And if you’re looking for places to go see the changing leaves around the city don’t worry, we’ve found eight beautiful ones right here!
