A new sushi bar opened in Chestnut Hill this spring, with a kitchen spearheaded by Kegan Stritchko, once of Uni and Fat Baby Sushi. XOXO Sushi Bar will leave you head-over-heels in love with the menu. Ashif Nirola, hailing from Back Bay’s Douzo, is the general manager of the new Chestnut Hill restaurant.
XOXO’s dining room includes a 16-seat omakase bar. In addition, you’ll find à la carte sushi masterpieces and robatayaki specialties all sequestered in a lively izakaya setting.
The beautiful XOXO dining room is sleek and modern. Fred Starikov and Steve Whalen designed the interior of XOXO Sushi Bar to bring a unique, sophisticated, and “city-like” setting to Chestnut Hill.
The interior features vaulted ceilings, custom millwork, pebble tone mosaics, and plush seating.
Cozy up in the plush seating while enjoying the à la carte or omakase menus. The 16-course omakase features Chef Stritchko’s choice items. Taste everything from the in-house dry-aged fish to the sashimi moriawase made up of a platter of “seasonal sea treasures.”
The menu includes the highest-quality fresh fish, along with land and vegetarian options. Stritchko’s menu doesn’t shy away from rare flavors and exotic ingredients like a Ora King salmon sashimi served with a Thai herb puree and fermented gooseberry salsa. Indulge in a A5 wagyu tartare embellished with caviar, black truffle and black garlic.
Savor Stritchko’s spicy tuna temaki handroll comprised of bluefin tuna, aji amarillo, charred pineapple and jicama. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the scallop with strawberry zu, makrut oil, lemon, and candied quinoa.
