Scroll through Instagram anytime from March through May and you’re almost guaranteed to encounter visuals of Keukenhof, home of Holland’s famous tulip fields and one of the largest flower gardens worldwide that earned it the nickname, “Garden of Europe.”
Jeroen Koeman, co-founder of Wicked Tulips Flower Farm in New England, was actually raised on one of The Netherlands’ dreamy tulip farms. Koeman grew up on land surrounded by millions of tulips. His childhood history on tulip farms actually came in clutch to swoon his co-founder and wife, Keriann.
Jeroen showed Keriann hundreds of thousands of Angeliques in Holland, now, the couples favorite tulip variety. Flash forward a few years, and their family farm brought not just the Angelique, but 150 varieties of tulips to Rhode Island and Connecticut.
In total, Wicked Tulips Flower Farm has 1,000,000 tulips across five football fields of land!
A day pass to the flower field will grant you permission to frolic, photograph, admire and even smell the tulips along with 10 U-pick tulip stems! Additional tulips are $1 per stem.
Genral admission tickets cost $20 during weekdays, $23 on weekends and $5 for children. Children’s tickets do not include U-pick flowers but do grant unlimited access to the fields.
Wicked Tulips Flower farm notes it only releases tickets when the fields are “wow-worthy.” Weather dependent, the tulip farms are slated to open as early as the first week of April! Below are the estimated opening dates and tulip blooms:
- April 5-20: Exeter, Rhode Island
- April 25- May 10: Johnston, Rhode Island
- April 25- May 10: Preston, Connecticut
