Wachusett Mountain is the ninth tallest peak in Massachusetts, at 2,006 feet tall with a 1,000-foot vertical drop. The ski area offers 25 trails, three high-speed quads, one fixed-grip triple chairlift, and three magic carpet lifts. At the mountain’s base is a 50,000-square-foot lodge featuring seven different dining concepts, restrooms, and areas to warm up and relax.
MBTA Wachusett Mountain Ski Train service
The ski trains run seasonally through the winter, depending on mountain conditions. A connecting shuttle services the MBTA Wachusett Commuter Rail stop and the Wachusett Mountain ski area.
The seasonal train service runs on weekends only with shuttles for select inbound and outbound trains. The $10 weekend commuter rail pass applies to the ski train, which is a component of the Fitchburg Commuter Rail running out of North Station. The deal includes unlimited rides on all MBTA Commuter Rail lines on Saturdays and Sundays.
Inbound train service from Boston to Wachusett Mountain
The following inbound Fitchburg Line trains feature a modified coach equipped with racks for ski and snowboard equipment. These trains include:
- Saturdays: Train 1403 to Wachusett
- Sundays: Train 2403 to Wachusett
This train departs Boston at 10:15 AM and arrives in Wachusett at 11:52 AM. A connecting shuttle will transport MBTA riders on trains 1403 and 2403 to the ski area. The shuttle is only for MBTA riders of these train numbers.
Outbound train service from Wachusett Mountain to North Station
- Saturdays: Train 1412 to North Station
- Sundays: Train 2412 to North Station
Shuttles to the departing train will leave Wachusett Mountain’s parking lot 30 minutes prior to the train departure, which is 5:55 PM.
