The Thunderbolt Mountain Coaster is unlike any other roller coaster. It’s a dazzling intersection of leaf-peeping and amusement park adrenaline. The Thunderbolt Coaster is best described as a combination of “alpine slide and roller coaster.”
The ride travels 1,580 up through a picturesque forest. If you manage to grab a ride by peak foliage, you’ll wind through forests ablaze with red maples, orange oaks, and yellow dogwoods! Once at the top, the cart disengages and it’s time to kick up the adrenaline!
The remaining 3,870-feet of track enter with swooping turns, banked corners, rippled drops, and 360° turns. Leave your cart to the mercy of gravity and you’ll find yourself traveling at thrilling G-Force speeds!
If that makes your heart pump a little too hard, each Thunderbolt Coaster cart is equipped with a self-managed braking system. Slow down when and where you need to, and even capture some footage of the surrounding foliage.
The Thunderbolt Mountain Coaster season runs Memorial Day weekend through the fall. Tickets are available on weekends only this fall. Ride fares are available in single passes or season passes in packages of 3, 5, or 10 rides.
The Thunderbolt Mountain Coaster is part of the Berkshire East Mountain Resort which offers an array of fall-themed outdoor fun like ziplining through an autumn forest, scenic bike paths, lodging, and food and beverage.
