Sofar Sounds has partnered with Fever to bring a brand new series of special performances to Boston, and we got to attend one firsthand on April 4th! As promised, we went in not knowing where the concert would take place until 36 hours before the show.
The lineup remained a delightful mystery until we arrived at Lamplighter Brewing Co. in East Cambridge. Want to know how the night panned out? Check out our full review below!
Uncovering the secret venue
Upon securing our tickets, we had no idea where we would be headed – other than somewhere in East Cambridge. This element of unpredictability made us even more eager for the show. Though we got a hint from the Fever platform that the event space involved beer, we refrained from doing too much digging. Finally, we found out we’d be heading to Lamplighter Brewing Co., a vibrant, spacious brewery and taproom on North First Street.
The artist lineup remained a secret even after the venue was disclosed, leaving more exciting surprises on the horizon!
Discovering the artist lineup
Across the span of the evening, three diverse performers took the mic. Each artist was as captivating as the next, drawing us into their art through their energy, lyrics, and anecdotes.
We loved that we were encouraged to connect and keep up with the artists after the concert, whether that be via Instagram, Spotify, or another streaming platform. It is exciting to think that we can continue to uplift the performers long after the show has ended!
Living in the moment
There’s something about the magic that fills the air at a Sofar Sounds concert that is indescribable until you feel it firsthand. But if we had to put it into words, the space immediately felt warm, accepting, and electric once the first artist took the stage.
As we soaked up the sounds around us, we felt more present than we had in a long time – which is such a gift these days. Distractions and obligations slipped away, allowing us to fully embrace the experience.
Overall takeaway
Heading to our first Sofar concert was an experience that we’d absolutely relive. It was refreshing to swap out bigger traditional concert venues for an intimate, surprising venue.
If you’re seeking a concert experience that brings you closer to the performers and your fellow audience members, definitely head to Sofar Sounds in Boston this spring!
