Just 35 miles outside Boston, Ski Bradford is one of the most accessible ski resorts in the area! With more than 20 inches of snow blanketing New England, there’s no better time to hit the slopes. And if you’d rather not drive on snowy roads, you can take the MBTA Commuter Rail from North Station. Here’s everything this winter playground has to offer!
One of Boston’s most accessible ski resorts

Ski Bradford is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Boston, making it perfect for a quick day trip outside the city! The mountain features 60 skiable acres and a 272-foot vertical drop. With green, blue, and black trails suited to its size, it’s an ideal spot to learn the basics or refine your skills. Ski Bradford has everything you need for a seamless skiing or snowboarding experience, plus the convenience of traveling from the city without hauling your own gear.
A family-friendly winter adventure

With a cozy base lodge and trails for all levels, Ski Bradford is one of the most family-friendly ski areas for day trips outside Boston. It’s less than an hour from the city on a good traffic day, and the base lodge offers fresh soups, crispy French fries, lockers, restrooms, and plenty of space to gear up or unwind after a day on the slopes.
Now in its 76th season, Ski Bradford has become a winter staple in many Bostonians’ routines. “For many families, the mountain is part of their winter tradition, where generations come together to enjoy time on the slopes and create lasting memories year after year,” said Dennis Gauvin, marketing manager for Ski Bradford, who has been with the mountain for over 50 years.
Whether you want to hit the slopes solo, join friends, or take lessons, there’s something for everyone. Most instructors at Ski Bradford are certified by the Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors—PSIA-AASI—also regarded as “the snow pros.” This ensures you receive top-quality instruction on the slopes. You can learn more about lessons and rental equipment online.
Getting to the mountain

Ski Bradford is located in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and offers stunning views of the Merrimack River Valley from its peak. It’s just 35 miles outside the city—about a 45-minute drive on I-95 North. For car-free city dwellers, the mountain is easily accessible via the MBTA Commuter Rail on the Haverhill Line. Take the train from North Station to the final stop in Haverhill, just over an hour away, then it’s a quick six-minute car share from the station to the mountain.
About Ski Bradford

Established in 1949, Ski Bradford is celebrating its 76th season this winter. The mountain is one of Massachusetts’ longest-running and most accessible local ski areas, serving generations of families, school programs, and beginner skiers throughout Greater Boston and the Merrimack Valley. The resort features nine lifts, including three triple chairlifts, a T-bar, and six surface lifts for beginners, plus a fun terrain park.
It’s always snowing at Bradford, thanks to 100% snowmaking coverage across its 15 trails, which stay open for night skiing until 9 PM! The season runs through March—weather permitting—and this winter looks like it’s here to stay. Be sure to check out Ski Bradford before spring for a quintessential New England day trip.
