Last year, Boston’s greatest snowfall came around January 6-7. On January 6-7, the city saw 3.8 inches of snowfall, part of the first Nor’easter of 2024. It’s been 2.8, nearly 3 years since Boston received 6 or more inches of snowfall in one storm.
As meteorologists predict a potentially flakey and slushy winter, is it possible we could see more significant snowfall? Meteorologists are tracking a snowstorm path traveling north from Texas that should reach New England on Saturday, January 11. However, the storm tracks are trending south of the region, meaning we might only see a few flakes if any at all.
The storm left major weather impacts on Texas, mainly in Dallas, and is expected to either bring a light dusting to the Boston area or completely miss. It’s too early to confirm. If there is snow, the precipitation would likely be intermittent. While most forecasts say it will be a light snow, some are watching for a potential Nor’easter, given the sustained high winds over the past few days.
Saturday is likely expected to be a light or no snow day for most of Boston, but regardless it will be cold with temperatures below freezing and a “Gale Warning” of high winds as we head into the weekend.
