America’s favorite spooky town turns 400 this year! Established in 1626, the fall favorite is expanding peak season this year, in honor of the major birthday milestone.
The four-century-year-old waterfront city kicks of celebrations this weekend, on August 1.

Salem 400+ events
Salem, Massachusetts turns 400 this year. The city is just a 35 minute train ride from North Station, with free round-trip rides every Friday through the end of summer.
Here are some of the key events taking over Salem for the big birthday:
- Heritage Days Parade: August 1 at 10 AM
- Heritage Days Festival: August 1 1 AM- 6 PM
- Salem Cardboard Boat Regatta: August 1 from 1-3 PM
- Citizen Salem Exhibit Opening: August 9
- Lesser Known Stories Exhibit: August 24-September 8
- Haunted Happenings: Date TBD
- Salem 400 Halloween: October 31
