The Wild West races straight to Boston this weekend. City Hall Plaza transforms into Rodeo Boston as locals trade their sneakers for boots and baseball caps for western hats.
On Saturday, September 20, the inaugural Boston Rodeo & Music Festival debuts with professional rodeo action and a star-studded country lineup, headlined by Evan Honer and Kassi Ashton—all while raising funds for local nonprofits.
Rodeo Boston rides into Downtown
Gates open at 2 PM, launching two hours of PRCA Pro Rodeo competition showcasing bull riding, bareback horse riding, barrel racing, and more.
The Rodeo brings the world’s top rodeo competition straight to City Hall Plaza as a PRCA-sanctioned event, part of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association circuit. That means Boston audiences will see elite cowboys and cowgirls compete in events like bull riding and barrel racing for prize money and standings toward the National Finals Rodeo in Vegas.
Local and regional acts take the side stage starting at 2:30 PM, building momentum until the main stage lights up for headliners at 7:45 PM.
After the rodeo, O’Connor Brothers Band kicks off the evening music. Kassi Ashton, hailed for her grit, sass, and raw vocals, co-headlines. Evan Honer drops tracks from his new album Everything I Wanted, released just the day before the festival.
Beyond the music, guests can dive into a full festival experience. Vendor Alley will highlight The Genesis Foundation for Children, which funds clinical, educational, and therapeutic programs for New England children with rare diseases, and Folds of Honor Boston, which provides scholarships to the families of fallen or disabled service members and first responders. All proceeds from the festival will support these organizations, tying the event directly to local impact.
Other attractions include a vintage marketplace, line dancing, and a mechanical bull for those daring enough to saddle up. All net proceeds from the event go directly to Boston-based charities, blending entertainment with community impact.
