Judy’s Jubilee Mobile Arts and Technology (STEM) is not your average school bus. This decked-out rainbow painted school bus is a mobile community and education center in one.
It might appear like nothing more than a colorful flashy school bus from the outside. A few moments on board reveal Judy’s Jubilee Mobile Arts and Technology (STEM) School Bus to have a whole world behind its retracting doors. The school bus is repursued into a sewing facility for kids to learn transferable sewing skills—mastering everything from creating their own pillowcase to a T-shirt on board.

The interior features individual sewing stations. Each includes Brother sewing machines, sewing patterns, comfy red loungers, and several knowledgeable instructors to guide and teach students. Key instructors include local fashion design duo, Emmanuel Qlynton Carboo and Jaribel Carela of Wavvz Concepts who help the students with their sewing skills.
The traveling school bus is part of the Worcester non-profit Jubilee Career Center for Performing Arts. The bus visits some of Worcester’s “most vulnerable” neighborhoods in an effort to bring important Arts and STEM programming to the underserved communities.
The program is the brainchild of Judy L. Perry, Founder and Executive Director of Jubilee Career Center for Performing Arts. An artist herself, Judy hopes to spread the freedom and individuality that comes from these important art skills. Kids learn everything ranging from garment making to painting.
The mobile bus is a completely free program and makes various stops around Worcester neighborhoods, serving the community year-round.
