Bostonians, mark your calendars for a blooming good time! The beloved New England Flower Show returns to the Garden at Elm Bank in Wellesley the weekend of September 20-21, promising a spectacular celebration of horticulture, creativity, and global inspiration.
Hosted by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society (MHS), this marks the 139th edition of an event rooted in nearly two centuries of tradition. This year’s theme, “World in Bloom,” spotlights the importance of plants across cultures and invites visitors to explore the impact that gardening and nature can have on our health, well-being, and sense of community. Expect vibrant floral installations, educational workshops, and a weekend brimming with inspiration for both seasoned plant lovers and curious newcomers.
Visitors can look forward to a packed schedule featuring judged competitions in amateur and junior horticulture, floral design, botanical arts, and photography. Organizers encourage everyone—especially young and amateur horticulturists—to join the friendly competition and showcase their green thumb.
What’s in bloom at New England Flower Show

Beyond the blooms, the event delivers a delicious array of food trucks—think Bardo’s Bar Pizza, Del’s Lemonade, and Bluebird Espresso Bar—plus workshops, speakers, and a curated marketplace. With over 80 vendors, from local favorites like Wellesley Books to horticultural standouts such as Hudson Valley Seed Co and Peony’s Envy, there’s plenty to explore.
Admission is $25 for adults, $12 for MHS members, and $10 for kids; children 2 and under and member’s children enter free. For those seeking early access, a Friday night Preview Party on September 19 offers a first look at the exhibits along with delicious fare by William Ference Catering.
Tickets go on sale online, with early access for MHS members. Advanced, timed tickets are required—these floral festivities are expected to sell out faster than the cherry blossom season in Boston!
