
It’s tulip time! The Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s third-annual Tulip Mania returned on April 23. The festival lasts through early May. This year’s Tulip Mania boasts a stunning field blooming over 75,000 tulips!
Tulip Mania is one of the closest U-pick tulip experiences to Boston, making it an accessible trip, especially for those without a car.
Getting to the garden
Tulip Mania takes place at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s The Garden at Elm Bank property. The garden is about 30 minutes from Boston by car. It is also near several bus, Commuter Rail, and Green Line stations, but will require a 5-10 minute long connecting rideshare trip. Learn more about the different transit options.
When is Tulip Mania?
The festival began on April 23 and is is expected to run through May 2, subject to the tulip blooms and availability. Peak bloom for tulips this year is April 26-27, with the potential for flush flower fields through May 4. Additional tickets may become available if there are still tulip blooms.

Tulip Mania prices include admission to the gardens and 5 tulip stems, whether you opt to pick them yourself or select the pre-cut option. You-pick opportunities are subject to availability and you must reserve a tulip picking time slot. The prices for Tulip Mania entry are:
- $21.55 for non-member adults
- $11.96 for non-member children 3-17 years
- $6.64 for members and member children
- Free for members just exploring the garden and not picking tulips
Membership is via the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, the nation’s oldest horticultural society, which aims to promote the importance and knowledge of plants.
