
Designed by nature lovers for nature lovers, the Mountain Flyer strives to make the outdoors accessible for Bostonians without a car and on a budget. Starting from just $58 round-trip you can travel to some of the region’s most coveted hiking and skiing destinations. Currently, the Mountain Flyer services one route from Boston, while the winterized trip, known as the “Winter Flyer” offers two bus routes from Boston to the mountains.
White Mountain Flyer
During summer and fall, Mountain Flyer makes New Hampshire’s famous White Mountains accessible with it’s $58 round-trip route. The White Mountain Flyer operates from July 9 through October 15 weekly on Saturdays with the exception of the third weekend of each month, when the bus runs on Sundays.
The bus departs Wellington Station in Medford at 6:15 AM also making a pickup in Salem before traveling to different scenic spots in New Hampshire where you can hop off— including Flume George, Falling Waters Trailhead, and Cannon Mountain. The entire trip takes three hours from Boston, arriving at the White Mountains around 9:15 AM.
Passengers have the entire day to explore New Hampshire as the bus back departs at 5 PM. Mountain Flyer offers 21 unique trail suggestions based on which stop you depart at. This is the final weekend to board the Mountain Flyer, but the bus returns for ski season as the Winter Flyer for accessible trips to the slopes! Learn more below.
Winter Flyer
Last year was the first run of the Winter Flyer, with an impetus to offer Bostonians trips to some of the top slopes in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Last year, the Winter Flyer departed from Boston South Station at 6 AM. The Winter Flyer offered two routes, traveling to Okemo and Killington Mountains in Vermont and a second loop to Waterville Valley and Loon Mountain, New Hampshire. The return buses departed at 4 PM allowing plenty of time on the slopes before arriving back at South Station around 8 PM.
