Moki Sauna brings its immersive wellness experience to its first ever pop-up in Somerville and second winter season after a highly successful debut on Boston’s Rose Kennedy Greenway last year. The outdoor winter sauna village is inspired by Norwegian sauna culture which involves sweating out toxins in a wooden sauna followed by jumping into a cold lake.
Moki Sauna enables guests to heat up in one of its luxury wood-fired saunas. Follow it up with the next step of cooling down in the expansive single or four-person cold plunge cedar barrels.
Visitors can cozy up by the outdoor fireplace after a plunge, head back to the sauna, then plunge and repeat! Continue the cycle of warming up and cooling down for up to two hours. Each Moki Sauna pass, $60, offers admission to the Nordic winter village lasting up to two hours.
New this year, Moki Sauna’s introduced a 1-hour “fast pass” for $45, 10-pack with ten 2-hour sessions for $49 each purchased upfront, and an unlimited monthly membership for $220.
“Moki is looking forward to providing a winter health and wellness destination in Somerville,” said Mark Peloquin, Founder and CEO of Moki Sauna. “Whether you are new to the process or have done something similar before, we see our Somernova location as a place to connect with yourself and others. We’re proud to bring this to the Somerville community and fortunate to have found a partner like Somernova that shares our vision and values.”
Wood-fired saunas and cold plunge in Boston

Each communal co-ed wood-fired sauna sits up to eight people. The cedar cold plunge is also communal and sits up to four people.
The recommended sauna time is about 30 minutes, and cold plunge time is as long as you can tolerate, which is usually around one to three minutes. Then you can rinse and repeat!
Moki Sauna offers three private rinsing stations with heated water for guests to clean off and recharge before and after each session. There are also five heated changing stalls. Moki Sauna provides towels, slippers, and lockers. Robes are available for guests at an additional fee.
You can reserve your two-hour sauna village pass online for $60.
Before your sauna session

The sauna village recommends bringing water, although it is available for purchase on-site. They also recommend removing any metal accessories such as jewelry or watches as they may aggravate the skin in the sauna, and lastly, make sure to bring a swimsuit or waterproof clothing for the cold plunge.
