This isn’t a deleted scene from Everything Everywhere All at Once, several MBTA trains are in fact decorated with googly eyes. You might categorize this new campaign under “ways to enrage Bostonians.”
It’s actually a group of dedicated Bostonians who thought of this idea and encouraged the MBTA to find a safe way to implement it. In April, a group of riders, calling themselves “Googly Eyes on the MBTA,” rallied to add said googly eyes to the T and Commuter Rail vehicles.
Their mission is accomplished. The T recently announced that the group’s appeal had been observed and now five MBTA trains are equipped with googly eyes, four Green Line trains, and one Commuter Rail train.
While this will not solve the laundry list of issues with Boston’s public transit system, the MBTA hopes this gesture “bring moments of joy to [its] riders daily commutes.” Keep your eyes peeled for a set of eyes on your next train.
