Sure, Bostonians have the reputation as one of the hardest working and most competitive people in America. And not just a reputation, but actual data revealed that Boston is the “sixth most overworked city in America.” So even though we grind, who wouldn’t mind 52 days off a year?
That’s almost two whole months of vacation, which is essentially unheard of for Boston.
A TikTok broke down the principle, which is based around Federal vacation days that most corporate entities are required to provide as vacation days. The strategy is to schedule your PTO around these vacation days and weekends for 52 days off.
Average PTO in corporate America is 10-15 days. If you have 15 days of PTO, here are they days you should take off to get 52 vacation days a year:
- January: 2, 16
- February: 16
- May: 24
- June: 17, 18, 20, 21
- July: 5
- September: 3
- November: 29th
- December: 23, 24, 26, 27
Still confused? This TikTok from finance creator, John Lang, explains in more detail:
Have less than 15 PTO days a year? Don’t worry! TikToker Farah Sharghi explains how to maximize your vacation days if you have 12 PTO days a year. Farah shows how to turn those 12 days off into 39:
The strategies above mainly work for roles in corporate settings that abide by federal holiday expectations. They won’t apply as much to workers in hospitality, healthcare or retail. However, you can start prepping your OOO signature and get ready to maximize your time off for your next escape!
