Actor Matthew Perry was found dead at his California home on Saturday, October 28, 2023. Perry is most famously known for his role as Chandler Bing on the 1990s hit sitcom, Friends.
Matthew Perry’s death is still under investigation but a 911 call from 4:07 PM on October 28 indicates that the emergency was treated as a water rescue. The cause of death is an accidental drowning at the moment.
Currently, no foul play is suspected. Reports state that natural causes of death turned into an apparent drowning in Perry’s jacuzzi.
The Friends actor was very open about his struggles with depression and battle with addition. In 2019, Perry released a book “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir,” which offered revelations on his struggles that Friends fans would never predict to be going on behind the scenes.
Perry also joined his fellow cast for a 25-year celebration of the series back in 2021 called the “Friends Reunion.”
Perry was a Massachusetts native like his former co-star, Matt LeBlanc who is from Newton. Perry was born in 1969 Williamstown, Massachusetts. He moved to Ontario just before turning one when his mother married a Canadian journalist.
Perry was a nationally ranked tennis player in his teens but left the sport to pursue acting full time in Los Angeles at just 15 years old. Perry landed his breakout role as Chandler Bing on Friends at age 24.
Friends ran for 10 seasons from 1994-2004. He also appeared in several other top show like Beverly Hills, 90210, Scrubs, and Growing Pains.
