According to WalletHub and “World Geo,” Massachusetts is the best state to live in. World Geo travel expert, Harrison Jordan, who operates under his pen name, has traveled to all 50 states and plans to repeat this trip, visiting new corners of each one. Based on his own research, in addition to statistics gathered from other reputable ranking sources, World Geo defined Massachusetts as “the best state in America!”
And in a new study by WalletHub, Massachusetts once again takes home the gold as the “best state to live in 2024.” Massachusetts continues to rank at the number one spot consecutively. The 2 studies ranked on similar factors such as affordability(*scofs*), economy, safety, quality of life, health, and education.
Methodology
World Geo ranked states according to 6 major factors including economic prosperity, livability and quality of life, education, safety. health, and natural disasters damage. Massachusetts scored respectively:
Economy: (B) 18 of 50
Livability: (B) 19 of 50
Education: (B) 13 of 50
Safety: (A) 10 of 50
Health: (A) 7 of 50
Natural Disasters: (B) 11 of 50
World Geo then tallies up the scores of each state, and determines the final rankings based on relative success in each category. Massachusetts had the most desirable overall average score, making it the best state going into this year! It’s not a first for Massachusetts praise. Last year, Boston ranked as one of the best cities in America and best cities in the world!
WalletHub assessed all 50 states in a similar manner, ranking them across 5 key branches, with sub roots that were then tallied for an average score. Each category holds a different weight and the state with the highest overall scores across all 5 branches came out on top, Massachusetts. You can learn more about the exact ranking methodology in depth here.
Not far behind Mass. is New Hampshire ranking number 5 (down from 3 in 2023), Maine number 14 (down from 12), Vermont number 19 (down from 17), Connecticut number 22 (up from 26), and Rhode Island number 28 (up from 29). All New England states stayed relatively close to their ranking last year, with Connecticut and Rhode Island ranking at a higher spot this year.
New Hampshire continues to rank in the top 5, but moved down from the top3, while Maine and Vermont’s ranking also lessened but continues to be in the top 20.
Is Massachusetts the best state to live in? We sure can’t get enough if it!
