The anticipation is over: Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience opens today in Boston!
By now, you’ve probably heard the news of a Van Gogh exhibit coming to Boston and the U.S. all the way from Europe. Created by the “edutainment” (education-entertainment) group Exhibition Hub, “Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience” has already dazzled hundreds of thousands of visitors across 11 cities in Europe and Asia with an awe-inspiring journey into the life and work of the world’s most famous artists. Now, four successful years later, the wait is over—The Van Gogh Immersive Experience opens its doors today to the public at the Strand Theatre in Boston.
With over a century of history, the Strand Theatre opened its doors in 1918 as a state-of-the art movie and vaudeville venue. Starting today, the Strand will host a new kind of entertainment show—a 4D experience that surrounds you with artistic masterpieces on all sides. As opposed to gazing at just one painting from afar in a museum, you’ll be able to walk inside a comprehensive selection of Van Gogh’s greatest works at this exhibit. The vibrant colors and masterly brushstrokes will swirl around you as you experience these post-impressionist works at a surreal scale.
Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, from renowned European “edu-tainment” company Exhibition Hub, utilizes a unique combination of a dozen state-of-the-art projectors, 15,000-square-foot screens, plus a separate high-tech VR adventure, to create a mind-bending 360° digital art experience. Plus, their cutting-edge video mapping process is only used by a few companies around the world!
This exhibition will completely transform The Strand’s space of 56,000 square feet into a wonderfully surreal and vibrant atmosphere. You can find the theater at 543 Columbia Road in Dorchester.
