citizenM Boston Back Bay is the largest citizenM property on the planet! The new location is the 36th addition to the portfolio and recently opened at Lyrik Back Bay, Boston’s 650,000-square-foot multi-use plaza and commercial space.
Citizens of Back Bay
To celebrate this Boston milestone, the citizenM in Boston’s Back Bay features a 90-foot-tall photography exhibition spanning nine stories overlooking Newbury Street. The photography exhibition, shot by acclaimed photographer, Bobby Doherty, is a continuation of citizenM’s “citizens of the world” series, which spotlights local legends.
Meet the legends:
The larger than life exhibition, on display now through Monday, November 11, features 9 talented creators and shakers in Boston, many of whose work you might be familiar with:
- Kimberly Flynn (Trident Booksellers): A Newbury mainstay for over 40 years, this charming spot is now second-generation family owned thanks to the fierce duo, Courtney and Kimberly.
- David Littlefield (The Sausage Guy): David Littlefield opened Boston’s beloved hot dog and sausage spot, The Sausage Guy, in 1992 with a single grill on Lansdowne Street. Today, David is a Boston icon – still serving his community with pride and passion.
- Vivian Luo (Electric Violinist): It took classically trained electric violinist Vivian five years to make the switch from finance to street performing. Fans come from all over Boston to hear her play outside Faneuil Hall.
- BREK.ONE: The official DJ for the Boston Celtics, 2024 NBA World Champs! Unsurprisingly, he’s one of the most sought-after DJs in the states, having played alongside everyone from Kendrick Lamar to The Rolling Stones.
- Doug Ansine: Creativity meets community at Boston streetwear label, Brain Child. Started by Doug Ansine in 2018, the brand’s mission is to unleash the world’s inner child – and that’s exactly what he’s done.
- Frank “The Butcher” Rivera: Designer, marketer, producer – Frank “The Butcher” Rivera does it all. On top of his day job as New Balance’s resident sneakerhead, Frank runs Public Peace World – engaging youth in the community through creativity and mentorship.
- Porsha Olayiwola (Poet Laureate): Boston’s Official Poet Laureate, Porsha Olayiwola is an ultra-talented writer, performer, educator, and World Poetry Slam Champion!
- Rixy (Muralist): Beauty is in the art of the beholder – and Rixy has the eye. Her work reconstructs global beauty narratives through street art, sculpture and public paintings by confronting ideas of identity and social equity.
