Chip City cookies, originally Chip NYC, didn’t start with some fancy business plan to make millions and become one of the East Coast’s fastest growing cookie companies. It began as a “battle of the cookies.” Rewind to 2017 Queens and founding childhood friends, Theo Gailas and Peter Phillips needed to know who baked a better cookie.
After a few turns of cookie wars, the 2 friends realized both of their cookies needed to reach more people, because they were that good. Today, Chip City challenges itself in new ways, alternating its 18 unique cookie flavors weekly, rotating through a mix of recurring classics and seasonal favorites like a peppermint-based dough in December, and our personal favorite, a red velvet lava cookie (oozing milk chocolate ganache) for Valentine’s.
Chip City cookies are served hot and fresh, and their storefronts often have long lines with hungry customers in anticipation of the week’s new offerings.
Already, Chip City has 6 storefronts in Queens, 5 in Manhattan, 2 on Long Island, 2 in Brooklyn, and 3 locations in Jersey, for a total of 18 locations in the New York/New Jersey area. They currently offer nationwide shipping via Goldbelly including dairy-free offerings. Chip City’s first New England location is expected to debut at Watertown’s Arsenal Yards later this year!
By the end of 2023, they will open 40 new franchise locations! The brand will expand into major East Coast markets including Washington D.C., Maryland, Florida, and Connecticut. Co-founder Peter Phillips shares the excitement in a recent press release about the cookie company’s rapid growth:
“We are thrilled to open our doors in Watertown,” said Phillips. “This opening is another incredible step forward for the brand and the business mission we have — to make communities smile through the quality of our products and to make our employees feel purpose in their communities.”
