Boston earned recognition from Michelin as one of the world’s best destinations for food lovers. Boston is the only New England destination to be included on the list.
Boston ranks alongside North American standouts, including Philadelphia, Florida, the American South, Route 66, Québec, and Vancouver.
Michelin announced its Boston guide in November of 2025; an official ceremony for Boston’s first and only Michelin-starred restaurant, Three 1 One Omakase in South End, took place at the start of this year. 26 Boston restaurants made the guide in total.
Michelin praises Boston’s new generation of chefs, pushing the boundaries to make the city among 16 destinations in the world worth traveling for the food alone:
Boston’s newly launched MICHELIN Guide signals more than validation — it marks a shift: A new generation of chefs is modernizing the city’s seafood legacy, pairing pristine New England shellfish with global techniques and sharper dining rooms. Neighborhoods like South End and Fort Point feel newly energized, while hotel openings bring fresh ambition. Visit late spring or early fall, when markets and patios come alive and the city’s culinary future feels most visible. And in terms of events, Boston will be celebrating its independent spirit all year long, to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution in the city.
Micheline notes if visiting Boston, a stay at the two-key Michelin hotels—The Newbury or The Whitney—will complete the trip. The full list of cities on Michelin’s short list for foodie-motivated travel is:

Trips begin at the table. Boston proves in this new culinary wave that the food scene is ever evolving. While we have New England staples like seafood and roast beefs, we’re also a global culinary destination innovating in the kitchens just as intensely and intentionally as we do in medicine and tech.
