Marvel fans, get ready: Wakanda is coming to Boston!
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently informed community members that a project called “Summer Break” will be filming on campus from Friday, August 20, to Monday, August 24. As Marvel fans may know, “Summer Break” is the working title for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Black Panther!
According to Inverse.com’s exclusive scoop, the filmmaking team will shoot scenes featuring vehicles driving on the streets around MIT, plus some overnight driving scenes and a daytime scene in front of a residence hall.
Fans are still speculating about the plot for the upcoming sequel, as Marvel famously keeps plot details tightly under wraps. However, given the setting for the upcoming shoot in Cambridge, it’s likely that MIT itself will factor into the plot. Perhaps Shuri is stopping by to give a guest lecture? We’ll have to find out next summer!
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will premiere in theaters next summer on July 8, 2022.
