What: Melanin Haircare was founded in 2018 by local sister duo, Whitney and Taffeta White. While still operated locally, they’ve doubled their retail distribution and now sell in Target, Sephora, and Ulta, all while changing the haircare came!

12. CrownBox Gifts
What: Founded in 2020, CrownBox Gifts has been delivering boxes of joy catered to Black women. “As we know, Black women are multi-dimensional and possess an array of personalities,” Co-Founder Tajah Ross states. “We wanted a brand that represents us and the women in our lives.” CrownBox Gifts was founded by three Boston educators with a mission to revolutionize personalization in gifting (even if it’s for yourself).
