Ballet of Lights: bringing Peter Pan to Boston
Ballet of Lights: Peter Pan retells a classic tale that just like Peter himself, never gets old. Over the course of 60 minutes, this ballet performance whisks audiences away to Neverland—a magical place where children fly, pirates battle and fairies shimmer in glittering costumes.
Adapted from J. M. Barrie’s beloved tale, this abridged version of the normal two-hour show combines elements of classical ballet with color-changing optical fibers that highlight the ballerinas’ movements. With every flutter of Tinker Bell’s twinkling wings and Peter’s gravity-defying leaps, the stage becomes a luminous dream.
Peter Pan told through light, music, and dance
At its heart, J. M. Barrie’s work explores the thrill of imagination and the bittersweet notion of growing up. Much like Peter Pan’s story, Ballet of Lights blends wonder and courage, inviting audiences to believe in magic just a little longer. With the enchanting notes of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by Mendelssohn, Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance no. 5” and Handel’s “Sarabande”, the ballet casts a spell of nostalgia and whimsy.
The Huntington at The Huntington Theatre will light up like never before this season as Ballet of Lights brings its skilled ballet dancers and glow-in-the-dark costumes to the historic theater. Witness every delicate arabesque and plié illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights!
You can catch the show on selected dates over the coming months, with two back-to-back performances each evening scheduled for 6:30pm and 8:30pm. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the start time and late entry is not permitted.
