Harvard Square’s newest restaurant is a retro tiki experience you’ll have to see to believe. Wusong Road, a multi-level restaurant located inside the renovated Conductor’s Building, is serving up Hong Kong-style deli food and delicious cocktails in the coolest space we’ve seen in a while.
Wusong Road has been slowly soft-opening since late 2021, and they officially opened their doors on February 1 – just in time for the Lunar New Year.
The venue is wholly unique to Cambridge. The Conductor’s Building was built over a hundred years ago as an MBTA administrative builiding, and its slim architecture gives it an eclectic feel. While it shuttered its doors in the early 2000s, it was recently renovated as a restaurant space. Today, Wusong Road has furnished the space with classic tiki touches, but the low lighting and historical architecture gives it a cool- not kitsch- vibe.
The food is just as unique as the building itself. On the downstairs level, the kitchen serves up Hong Kong-style deli with barbecue rice plates and bao sandwiches (with the cutest little faces on the buns!). You can even order whole roasted duck – but due to such high demand, it’s only available in limited amounts and requires a reservation in advance.
Upstairs, you’ll find a suave tiki bar with elaborate and vibrant cocktails, embellished with tropical flowers and those classic tiny parasols.
Wusong Road is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 5pm to 10 pm. The upstairs bar stays open until 11pm on weekdays, and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
