School’s out! It’s winter break here in Massachusetts and there are so many fun activities to do in and around the city. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite family-friendly activities and day camps to keep the kids entertained this winter recess. Check them out below!

The annual winter recess break coincides with President’s Day Weekend. This year’s break is from February 19 through February 23.
What to do during the winter break in Massachusetts?
There are a bunch of fun kid-centric activities to explore this winter break, perfect for those in elementary through high school. We’ve also included some easy family-friendly travel options should you be interested in a quick getaway!
Blue Man Group
The world-renowned entertainment group will offer a full run of shows during February vacation week at Charles Playhouse in Boston, February 16 though February 25. There will be laughter, music and more. Reserve your visit online!
Puttshack
The indoor mini golf dreamland just opened a new Natick location. It’s perfect for a mall day. Play mini golf all day, do some shopping and end the night with discounted tickets at the Framingham AMC. Puttshack is also in Boston Seaport.
ELEVEN-O Pickleball
This Patriot Place pickleball spot offers some fun intro to pickleball sessions during vacation week. Swing by the junior pickleball academy on February 22 from 9 AM-12 PM for or check out the glow-in-the-dark pickleball session from 6-8 PM on February 22 and 23.
Pirate Party at Summer Shack
This one might be more fitted to the older kiddos or an outing for the parents who want a little break! Summer Shack in Back Bay will host a pirate-themed party on February 23 from 6-10 PM. Tickets are $50 and include a chance to mingle with Summer Shack’s very own Captain Jack Sparrow, raw bar and appetizers, and opportunities to win treasure with pirate-themed games and trivia! Pirate costumes encouraged but not required.
Oscar-nominated shorts at The Coolidge
The Academy Awards return on March 10. In celebration of Hollywood’s biggest night, The Coolidge will showcase all nominated short films beginning February 16. Short Documentaries are slated to premiere from March 1. Learn more about showtimes and tickets.
Minni
With two studio locations in the Boston area, located in the South End and Beacon Hill, Minni offers children ages 18 months to 10 years an inspirational place to celebrate the beauty of art and design, alongside supportive and trained educators. Outside of Minni’s normal classes and workshops, they regularly offer free Community Drop-Ins.
Ski Trip
There are dozens of great spots to go skiing near Boston. Head to the Weston Ski Track for a local cross-country option or check out our favorite ski resorts.
Studio by GardenStreets
This massive DIY workshop in Cambridge is hosting classes all throughout the winter recess to keep the kids entertained and learn some new crafting skills. Check out the calendar for a full list of classes.
