About The Winnetu Oceanside Resort
The sprawling resort on the island of Martha’s Vineyard features 11 acres of private beach! The family-owned Edgartown hotel served summering families for years. it evolved from the 1873 Mattakeset Lodge, which in 1958 went from Naval Station to summer resort (Katama Shores Inn). In 1968, the Mattakeset home community was developed and in the year 2000, the Snider family opened the late-19th century inspired Winnetu Oceanside Resort!
Not only did it rank 16 on the “world’s best” list, but it also took home the number 1 spot on Travel+Leisure’s “Best New England Resorts of 2024.” It also took spot number 2 on the list of the “15 best resorts in the U.S.”

Methodology
The annual survey cast over 700,000 votes acquired from over 186,000 Travel+ Leisure readers. In total over 8,700 properties were surveyed but only 100 made the final list!
