Christmas Tree Picking Boston

Including places to cut your own tree!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year yet again and while holidays may be looking a bit different this year, there’s nothing quite like a freshly-cut Christmas tree and the scent of pine to help make things a bit easier. The National Christmas Tree Association has issued new guidelines to keep Christmas tree hunting safe during the pandemic. We’ve mapped out a few places where you can find your perfect Christmas tree and even cut it down yourself for an awesome holiday-themed outing!

1. Pakeen Farm

Located in Canton, MA, Pakeen Farm offers a wide variety of trees including Balsam, Concolor and Fraser Firs, as well as Blue and Norway Spruces. Grab a hot cocoa and wander through the farm to find the perfect tree. The farm also has handcrafted wreaths and garlands to help make your holiday décor extra luscious. This year the farm has extended its hours to help people spread out and maintain social distancing, The owners have also recommended visiting the farm on a weekday if possible to help avoid crowding.

When: Open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.

Where: 109 Elm St., Canton, MA.

2. Smolak Farms

A great place to go apple picking in the fall, Smolak Farm also grows two kinds of Christmas trees — Fraser Fir and Balsam Fir. If you don’t feel like cutting down your own, the farm also offers precut trees along with wreaths, garlands and other holiday décor. Like in other farms, masks and social distancing are required.

Pro tip: Head on to Smolak early in the season, the farm’s quite popular and trees tend to sell out early!

Note: Vandervalk Tree Farm is cash only.
