Joining Manhattan’s “Tribute in Light” for the second consecutive year, Boston’s night sky will bathe in blue lights on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
24 years after the 9/11 attacks, the city still mourns the victims lost on that day and grieves with the friends and family struck with tragedy.
Each year in New York City, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum projects two blue beams into the night sky, and dozens of buildings light themselves blue to join the “Tribute in Light.” The towering light beams rise into the sky farther than the eye can see, almost like a bridge to the sky. The Empire State Building and other NYC landmarks turn blue in remembrance.
For the second year, Boston, will join this tribute with the city’s landmarks like Prudential Tower, Fenway Park, the Zakim Bridge, 131 Dartmouth, South Station Tower, State Street, and Rowes Wharf illuminating blue as a collective remembrance. The buildings’ blue lights will be visible from dusk through midnight on the evening of Thursday, September 11, 2025. Fenway Park will shine blue from 7-9 PM on September 11. Bostonians will be able to capture the city bathed in blue for a powerful remembrance of those we lost.
