Who’s on the ballot
There are four candidates running for Mayor of Boston. This election will narrow the list down to two.

- Robert Cappucci
- Domingos Darosa
The election also includes voting for City Councillor-At-Large and District City Councillor. A City Councillor-At-Large represents and is elected by the entire city of Boston, while a District City Councillor represents and is elected only by voters in a specific geographic district within the city.

In-person voting is Tuesday, September 9 from 7 AM-8 PM at the listed polling locations. Early voting is now closed.

What is the difference between a preliminary municipal election and municipal election?
The September preliminary municipal election’s purpose is to narrow the field of candidates for local offices. Winning votes from the November municipal election determine who will hold office.
Upcoming election dates in Boston
The municipal election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, with in-person voting from 7 AM-8 PM. The voter registration deadline is October 25 with early voting from October 25-31—sites and times still to be announced. You can register to vote using one of these three methods.
