Swimply is the new kid on the block, or rather backyard, rooftop, porch, or wherever people in the sharing economy are renting out their pools. The pool-sharing service is known as the “Airbnb of pools,” since the technology allows users to rent out local pools from homeowners for an allotted amount of time.
So, if you were looking for a stranger with a pool to crash this Fourth of July, you can be the stranger with the pool. Founded in 2018, serendipitously, when Swimply Founder Bunim Laskin asked to borrow his neighbor’s vacant pool in exchange for upkeep, the company now has national reach (in addition to Canada and Australia), allowing New Englanders to dip their toes in the fun.
Swimply rentals are by the hour, and most pool listings are privately owned by their respective homeowners. Just select your desired date, party size, and location to be shown different pool options near you. Prices average $50 per hour for pools accommodating around 10 guests. However, pool rentals start from much lower and many go past $100 per hour for larger options with luxe landscaping and amenities.
