The Somerville Fermentation Festival will bring food, science, and community together for its annual celebration of fermented flavors. The main event is free and open to the public, inviting Bostonians and visitors to sample products, meet local makers, and learn more about the cultures behind favorite foods.
Shop, taste and get hands-on
A diverse marketplace will feature fermented-food vendors from across New England, with products available to sample and buy. Visitors can also join the free Kraut Mob to make their own sauerkraut, get advice at the Fermentation Help Desk, explore bacteria and yeasts at a microscope table, or take part in crafts for children and adults.
Festivalgoers can bring a SCOBY, starter culture, or fermentation-themed book for the culture and book swap—and leave with a new one.
Get early access and hear from experts
New for 2026, ticket holders can enter during an Early Access Hour from 10 to 11 AM, before public doors open at 11 AM. Tickets include a branded tote bag, raffle ticket, sticker, 10% off festival merchandise, and free Speaker Series access.
