The James Beard Foundation just released its shortlist of this year’s James Beard Award winners! One New England chef and destination made the list, after an impressive roster of representation for New England on the nominations list.
The James Beard Award winner, Sky Haneul Kim of Gift Horse in Providence, Rhode Island, is recognized as this year’s “best chef in the Northeast.” The category considered chefs across all six New England states.
Gift Horse opened in 2023 as a seafood restaurant focused on raw seafood, although they serve hot food too, with Korean infusions. It quickly received praise on Esquire’s 2023 list of “the best new restaurants in America.” Gift Horse is open Thursdays-Mondays from 4 PM until 12 AM!
