Remember when your biggest concern was choosing the perfect song for your MySpace profile? Back in the 2000s were burning CDs, texting on flip phones and singing along to Avril Lavigne — seemingly without a care in the world. Now, you can relive some noughties magic with a seriously bright twist. Neon Moves Boston is a high-energy light dance show where seven dancers in synchronized LED costumes perform a glowing performance to and iconic 2000s hits — a perfectly neon, nostalgic noughties night.
The show is performed in collaboration with THE BLACKOUTS, the award-winning Swiss LED dance group that took second place on Britain’s Got Talent with two Golden Buzzers. Neon Moves takes their signature fusion of bodies, darkness and light further in a 60-minute theatrical performance combining seven dancers, 2000s hits and an evolving story.

Who are THE BLACKOUTS?
THE BLACKOUTS are an internationally recognised performance collective whose work combines dance with advanced LED costume technology. Their journey began in Switzerland before appearances on Switzerland’s Got Talent, Das Supertalent and Britain’s Got Talent helped introduce their distinctive style to wider audiences.
Around 1,800 individually controllable LEDs sit at the heart of their visual system, with cues synchronised down to the millisecond. The combination of precise body movement and intelligent light programming plays tricks on the eye, creating illusions of motion that simply wouldn’t be possible through choreography alone.
What is Neon Moves: a dance story where movement leads the way?
Neon Moves takes THE BLACKOUTS’ signature LED effects beyond standalone visual tricks, using seven dancers, light and music to tell a story across the hour-long show. Movement begins controlled and mechanical before gradually becoming freer and more human.
The soundtrack drives that transformation. “Eye of the Tiger” and “Rock That Body” bring unmistakable 2000s nostalgia, while “I Gotta Feeling” and “Everybody” push the performance into brighter, higher-energy territory. Throughout, the LEDs react alongside the choreography, making bodies appear, disappear and shift through the darkness.
For Boston audiences, it’s a chance to see the spectacle THE BLACKOUTS are known for with a narrative behind it. The technology creates the illusion, but the dancers bring it to life.
