This Sunday, August 27, cinemas across the city will partake in National Cinema Day. To celebrate, movie-goers can catch new releases like Oppenheimer, The Hope, and Barbie for just $4. The deal applies to all movie formats at participating movie theaters.
The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit division of the National Association of Theater Owners, hosts this annual nationwide event to keep American theaters full. It’s a reminder of the magic of cinema in a world saturated with at-home streaming services.
The first edition of National Cinema Day recorded over 8.1 million visitors to movie theatres across the country, setting the single day attendance record for 2022,” said Eduardo Acuna, CEO at Cineworld Group, parent company of Regal. “This year with $4 movies and a $4 concession combo, Regal hopes to welcome even more guests on National Cinema Day to see why we are ‘The Best Place to Watch a Movie!
Cinemas across the city collectively have over 40 different films. Some of those new releases include Barbie, Abominable, Golda, Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City, and the new Mission Impossible “Dead Reckoning.”
