Welcome to Boston Chinatown, Nan Xiang Express! The new soup dumpling spot opened this summer and is quickly becoming one of Boston’s favorite soup dumpling spots-the ultimate fall comfort food.
The parent restaurant of Nan Xiang Express earned 9 Michelin recommendations since opening in 2006! Sprouting from Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao in New York’s Queens, the restaurant group focuses on Xiao Long Bao-the Chinese name for “soup dumplings.”
This Northern Chinese staple often features soft, fluffy, steamed dumplings with fillings ranging from minced meats to seasoned vegetables. Nan Xiang Express offers Bostonians the opportunity to delight in this cuisine in a fast-casual setting.
What’s on the menu?
Menu highlights include four varieties of 6-piece signature soup dumplings, fried rice cakes, noodle soups, pan-fried crispy noodles, and signature Dim Sum like steamed vegetable dumplings or Siu Mai.
The menu includes beef tendon and tripe in spicy sauce for more adventurous eaters!
Where to find Nan Xiang Express?
Now open at 52 Beach Street in Chinatown, Nan Xiang Express sits in the former Gourmet Dumpling House- a Boston mainstay that closed in 2022. The Boston institution was a favorite of local chefs, college students, and even celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence.
This is the fourth Nan Xiang Express to open, with three other locations in New York and one in Maryland. The goal is to franchise more locations in and around Boston and potentially open up the popular Michelin-rated parent restaurant, Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, in Boston someday. The team is taking things one bite at a time!
The quick-eats restaurant also has an Apple and Android compatible app for easy online ordering! They’re taking the “express” part of the name very seriously.
