Menesma in Martha’s Vineyard is the best beach on the East Coast according to Rough Guides.
Calm waters, sprawling views and killer sunsets, that’s what makes Menesma Beach the best one on the Entire East Coast according to Rough Guides. The renowned travel guide publisher recently named this Massachusetts beach the number one on its list of East Coast beaches.
The only New England entry on Rough Guide’s list, the publisher named it a “peaceful heaven” and the best spot on the island for catching sunsets and honestly we totally understand why. Its sprawling sand dunes, calm, clear waters and gorgeous views over the Vineyard Sound make Meneshma the perfect beachy paradise. Its spectacular and totally romantic sunsets don’t hurt either!
“Make sure you stay for sundown, as Menemsha Beach is most stunning come early evening, when it’s one of the best spots to catch the sunset on the island. With style and romance, it’s the perfect spot for couples. Bring a bottle of wine, pick up a lobster picnic from one of the convenient seafood shacks, and bundle together on a blanket to await dusk in quintessential New England style,” says Rough Guides entry.
There’s plenty for you to do at Meneshma Beach aside from catching its strikingly gorgeous sunsets, like taking a stroll along the harbor, collecting sea glass, trying your hand at surf or enjoy some awesome bites made with fresh local ingredients and the catch of the day. You can also do some sightseeing by visiting some of the sites where Steven Spielberg’s Jaws was filmed!
So if you’re looking for some end of the summer weekend plans why not check out the best beach on the entire East Coast?
