The MBTA is working on the paint design of its future Green Line Type 10 car. They’re giving Bostonians the unique opportunity to vote on their favorite of three designs by October 9.
Unsurprisingly, Bostonians share that their concerns are much bigger than the train designs and that the MBTA should focus on function first. Some riders wrote comments like “do any of them go faster than 25mph”, “Option 4.. fix the tracks?!”,”fix the infrastructure first? Is that an option?”, and “I like trains that go faster than 1 mph.”
It’s clear that Bostonians want the MBTA to put the horse before the cart. But the voting is at least an opportunity to decide what the future of Boston will look like. The 3 design options were shared on the MBTA Instagram and can be voted for online.
Option one is a gray silver base with a sporty white and green stripe along the bottom.
Option two is a color block train with a light gray upper and dark green lower half that also features a stripe down the train.
Option three is the most intricate with a dark gray base, green color blocking down the center, a green and white stripe down the bottom and lastly a white line outline of the doors.
At the moment, option 3 seems to be the most popular. Cast your vote by October 9, 2023 online!
