Snow in April? The dichotomy of spring flowers juxtaposed with a fresh coating of white snow is no strange feat in Massachusetts.
However, spring snow is becoming increasingly rare in New England, with no substantial snowfall since April 2016, in which Boston and other parts of Massachusetts received 1/3 a foot of snow or more in higher elevations! While this snow proved more sincere, it still surprised New Englanders:
This week’s been an unusually cold week, compared to April averages. Average high temperatures this time of year in Massachusetts oscillate between 51° and 56° whereas average lows on go as far as 41°.
The night of April 8 brough a record-breaking blustery 11° evening to Boston, that forced even the proudest New Englanders to whip out their winter coats.
Will there be more snow this month?
The forecasts are trending considerably warmer beginning from next Monday. This weekend is expected to be in the 30s, so expect colder than usual temperatures, with a possibility for more light snow west of Boston on Saturday morning. Areas above freezing will see consistent rain throughout the weekend.
