Marcelino’s, Levantine Cocktails & Cuisine just opened in Boston Seaport at the former Daily Catch location overlooking Fan Pier and the Boston Harbor. The restaurant is co-founded by Basel Badawi and Marcelino and brings first-of-its-kind Levantine cuisine to Boston. Levantine cuisine celebrates the Levant region of the Mediterranean, merging flavors found along and across the shorelines of the Levant Sea from countries such as Lebanon, Egypt, and Turkey.
The team behind Marcelino’s Seaport
Marcelino’s, Levantine Cocktails & Cuisine is cofounded by Basel Badawi and Marcelino. Badawi is a Damascus native and Boston-based cosmetic dentist who realized his dream of bringing his hometown flavors to his adopted home base of Boston.
I have always believed that a great dining experience is about balance—music, lighting, ambiance, and, of course, great food,” Basel says. “This quest for balance is the underlying motivation at Marcelino’s, Levantine Cocktails & Cuisine.
Marcelino is a restaurateur who dreamed of creating a restaurant that combines ambiance, service, quality, and value. The duo created Marcelino’s Boutique Bar in Providence, Rhode Island in 2020 and now showcase their successful concept in Seaport.
Andalusian architecture and Levantine cuisine
This exciting new venue aims to become one of the city’s chicest spots, specializing in expertly crafted libations and a diverse menu of creative mezze-style small plates, as well as dinner and dessert options. Located next to the John Joseph Moakley Courthouse, Marcelino’s offers stunning views of Boston Harbor, often referred to as “Boston’s Postcard view.”
A great dining experience is about connecting all the elements, says Marcelino. “From the ambiance and product quality to the service and overall value.
The new Boston location aspires to elevate the local culinary scene. The talented culinary team features acclaimed Levantine Chef Maroun Nohra and bar director Refaat Ghostine, both dedicated to delivering high-quality food and beverage. Menu highlights include the Herb-crusted lamb chops inspired by Adana’s rich culinary heritage, accompanied by Turkish Esme salad, yogurt, and cumin salt and a Carob-Kissed Carpaccio.
The interior design of Marcelino’s draws inspiration from Arabic and Spanish Andalusian architecture, creating an inviting and luxurious atmosphere characterized by rich colors and elegant decor.
The space is thoughtfully designed to engage all five senses, ensuring a memorable dining experience for guests.
