Oprah captivated a room full of 11,000 at the annual Massachusetts Conference for Women last week. Winfrey was one of the many heralded keynote speakers from this year’s conference including Caitlyn Clark, Maura Healey, Lulu Garcia-Navarro, Beverly Johnson, and Gail Denvers. The 1-day conference welcomed a sold-out crowd to discuss business, wellness, confidence, networking, and many more topics with breakout sessions, a retail space, and much more held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
If you missed the conference on Thursday, December 12, here are some of the highlights from the incredible conversations at the Massachusetts Conference for Women:
Oprah’s conversation with broadcaster and best friend, Gayle King, centered around intention. Winfrey noted the book The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav catalyzed the turning point in Oprah’s intentions behind her talk show. The Oprah Winfrey Show became the number-one talk show for 25 years.
Every time I trusted that voice, I moved toward and met the rising. Oprah said on trusting her gut instincts.
Winfrey noted the only time she’d regretted a decision was when she’d ignored her gut. She went on to note that sitting still with yourself is essential to connecting with your instincts.
You are the fuel for the fire that is your life. True success is the reward you feel in your spirit for a life well-lived.
This unrelenting belief in self and trust was shared between Oprah in her journey to becoming a journalist, talk show host, and businesswoman and another keynote, WNBA Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark.
Clark credits her unweathering confidence for getting her to be one of the only 144 players in the WNBA. “Believe you can” Clark said, “it’s powerful and rubs off on the people around you.”
Clark, who was in conversation with GMA Host Robin Roberts, said growing up she was better than most kids her age at basketball so she competed with the boys league and won “Most Valuable Player.” Some parents were appalled, Clark laughed, but “I was just better than all of the boys!”
Despite Clark’s many triumph’s:
I failed a lot, and I couldn’t stand that.
Losing and making mistakes lit a “fire in the belly” for Clark that has fueled her to reach her WNBA dreams.
The inspirational women have parallels in their stories. You can listen to even more, and catch live conversation with Oprah virtually at the National Conference for Women on March 5, 2025.
